Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Taxora collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website and the Mac and Windows apps. Taxora is built for users in the United States.
What we collect
- Account details you give us, such as your name and email address.
- Transactions, balances needed to categorize activity, and receipts you capture, if you choose to connect an account or add a record.
- Edits you make: categories, notes, and which items you mark for review.
- Exports you generate for yourself or your accountant.
- Messages you send through the contact form.
- Basic technical data, such as app version, operating system version, and crash logs, used to keep the app working.
The marketing pages do not use advertising cookies. A message you send through the contact form is stored so we can reply, and deleted when the conversation is finished. Those messages are not used for advertising.
Bank connections
If you connect a bank or card, the sign-in happens with Plaid. Taxora does not receive your bank password. We receive the transaction data Plaid is authorized to share for the accounts you select. You can disconnect an institution in the app. Plaid’s handling of credentials is described in Plaid’s legal terms.
How we use information
- To show your workspace, estimates, and reports.
- To answer questions you ask the assistant about your own records.
- To reply when you contact us, and to send trial reminders you expect.
- To protect the service, debug failures, and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your financial records with advertisers or data brokers.
The assistant
When you ask a question, the text of that question and the relevant records may be processed to produce an answer. That processing is only to respond inside Taxora. Providers who host the product may handle that request under contract. They are not permitted to sell your records. An answer is an explanation of organized data, not tax advice.
What you share with your CPA
Reports leave Taxora when you export them. We do not send a package to your accountant on our own. You choose the file and the person who receives it.
How long we keep it
We keep workspace data while your account is open and for a short period afterward so you can export. You can disconnect banks in the app and ask us to delete the workspace. We may retain a limited record of a deletion request, a security log, or a message we are required to keep. Plaid may retain data under its own policy.
Security
We encrypt data in transit with TLS and encrypt stored workspace data at rest. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Keep the computer where Taxora is installed up to date.
Children
Taxora is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
State privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to appeal a decision we make about a request. Use the contact form and tell us which right you want to use. We will not discriminate against you for asking.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. If a change materially reduces how we protect financial records, we will say so on this page before it takes effect.
